Hi! My name is Amanda and I am an Occupational Therapist in rural Iowa! I graduated with my doctorate in occupational therapy from Creighton University in Omaha, NE, last May 2017. I am originally from rural Iowa, and have resumed small town life working as an occupational therapist at Stewart Memorial Community Hospital in Lake City, IA.
This blog is a way to document my journey from being a third year OT student completing my Professional Rotation to becoming a professional out in the field.
I am very passionate about improving the health and quality of life of older adults through the use of non-traditional interventions like the Memories in the Making painting program for individuals with dementia and Alzheimer’s disease as well as animal assisted therapy and sensory programs.
In my free time, I enjoy exploring new places with my beloved Border Collie, Pearl, running, watching Grace & Frankie or Game of Thrones, reading for leisure, going to concerts and traveling.
Hope you enjoy reading about my nOTeworthy journey. 🙂
